WHO WE ARE
Dance Venture was founded in 1980 and has taught many promising young dancers, some of whom have achieved international recognition in competitions and major ballet companies. Former students now work in every field of dance as professional dancers, choreographers, teachers and arts administrators.
The school prides itself in the provision of excellence in dance training for young people. Emphasis is placed on classical ballet training but quality training is also provided in contemporary and jazz dance styles. We provide the opportunity to undertake ballet examinations at all levels. We encourage participation in competitions for the serious student, and performance opportunities.
Starting with only six students in 1980, the school has developed and grown to become what it is today. After bringing 39 years of experience to the students Renate Cumalkovs, founder and specialist ballet teacher retired in 2022 and the school is now run by its current owners Melinda Wheeler, Kai Ying Leong and Janet Lane.

Dance Venture provides a safe, welcoming and fun environment for students to learn their chosen style of dance.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to dance as their 'best self' whilst learning in a family friendly supportive environment. Our teachers welcome and support many students who have developed life long friendships with their teachers and students.
The dance school provides great opportunities for kids to flourish in a variety of dances, including ballet, jazz, and contemporary. The teachers are knowledgeable and patient with kids and help them develop skills at their pace. Love it!
